Recipe of the month

This month’s chosen recipe is a firm favourite; Lasagne! The quantities should make a family size portion.

Ingredients:
Minced Beef – 375g
Mixed Herbs – 1tblsp
Onion – 1/2
Garlic clove crushed – 1
Tinned chopped tomatoes – 1
Tomato puree – 1 tblsp
Black pepper – to taste
Beef stock cube – 1
Butter – 42.5g
Milk – 14.25g
Plain flour – 42.5g
Grated cheese – 85.25g
Lasagne sheets – 1 box
Oil – 1 tblsp

Method:
1. Preheat oven Gas mark 4
2. Heat oil in large pan and add onion fry until soft and transparent
3. Add garlic and stir for further 2 mins
4. Add mince and cook until brown
5. Add chopped tomatoes, tomato puree, and pepper to taste
6. Make up stock and add, leave to cook until liquid reduces
7. Meanwhile make white sauce – melt butter in another large pan, add flour and cook for 1 minute, gradually add the milk stirring all the time, once all the milk is incorporated bring the mix to the boil, simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally to ensure it doesn’t burn. Remove from heat
8. Assemble Lasagne – layer mince as base, add lasagne sheet, a little sauce, repeat mince, lasagne sheet then top with remainder of sauce
9. Add grated cheese
10. Cook in oven for approx. 45mins-1hour until golden.
