Research Based Audits in the Nursery

In the nursery over the summer we have been busy using an auditing tool to review the room environment and our practice.  We pride ourselves in being outstanding and constantly work to improve on this.  The tools are very well regarded in our field and called the Infant, Toddler and Early Rating Scale for babies and toddlers and Early Childhood Rating Scale for the pre-school.

As a management team we have swapped around, looking objectively at both nurseries and going through the scale marking on areas such as the resources we have, to the space that we use and how well we use it.

We have now completed these audits and as a team we are working on improvements that we have found from these. You may find new resources around the nurseries, or particular areas being moved or improved.   We are planning to have completed all actions within the next couple of months. We will then roll into a system of regular audits.

From these we have also highlighted some themes and are creating a bespoke training session which we will be running in September as a practitioner team.  We will run this training on Saturday 14th September, one of the three “out of hours” training sessions we run internally.

We are all really excited about using these audits, and continuing to improve as a nursery, and sharing ideas with all of you.
