Forest School Programme
Most children are fascinated by nature and love all the experiences of being outdoors and we believe there is sometimes no better way to learn. So we feel really privileged and excited to be able to offer a Forest School programme for our children, to give them opportunities to develop confidence through learning in a local woodland environment.
We’re lucky to have a woodland area in the nursery grounds, and part of the forest is just over the fence. We have qualified Forest School practitioners on our team, who are so committed and passionate that they make the most of outdoor learning and the woodland on our doorstep at every given opportunity.
We follow the Forest School curriculum in our sessions. This involves following the forest school philosophy, building self-esteem through a learning hands-on approach within a natural woodland environment. We then add to this our own unique blend of outdoor learning through our individualised planning on the child’s development.
Playing and learning outdoors strengthens all areas of development for each child. The endless opportunities for exploration and investigation create an exciting and captivating environment for the children to flourish in. You never know what adventure is just around the corner with lots of spontaneous fun!
At Teepee Day Nursery, the garden and forest school area are an extension of the children’s rooms. This means that the children can make their own choice of whether to play indoors or outdoors. We feel that there is nothing that can’t be taken outside and you might often capture the children and team enjoying alfresco dining for lunch or tea!
The forest area offers the children a magical hideaway in which they can explore nature, build dens and problem-solve together under the guidance of trained professionals. The ethos of a Forest School programme is that children build their confidence, independence and resilience in a natural outdoor environment.
