We would like to say a big thank you to Keira’s dad for coming into the room and playing nursery rhymes on his guitar and to Keira’s mum for joining in with the singing. To start with the children sat very still and watched the guitar being played but gradually they began to join in with the singing.
The children joined in with playing other instruments along with the guitar and joined in singing their favourite rhymes and did the actions along with them. The children really enjoyed watching and listening to the sounds coming out of the guitar, they also had a chance to feel the guitar as it was played to feel the vibrations.
Afterwards the children were able to hold the guitar and some of them plucked at the strings.
This activity helped with our Communication week and encouraged group communication through song and having fun all together. It was really interesting for the children to see how music is produced and to help them to link sounds and words together.
